Values

Respect

Respect for each other. Respect for different cultural backgrounds, and different upbringings. Respecting all life and life-givers - the animals, trees, insects, fish, plants, and elements. Respect for individual sovereignty. Respect for the interconnectedness of all living things.

Integrity

To do things in a good way. Demonstrating through action, not just words. Acting in alignment with your values. Doing things for the good of others. Even if it takes longer.

Craftsmanship

Pride in your work. Care for your work, and for the people you work with and for. Care for materials and tools. Never cutting corners. We think of the long-term consequences of our actions, not just the short-term.

Compassion

Have an understanding of and compassion for people’s emotions, anxieties, worries, shortcomings, etc. Having empathy. Without compassion, it leads us all to defensiveness.

Our Story

It's hard to say when this vision really began. One could say that founder Cueyo Cataldo has always held the intention to build sustainable homes for his own First Nation and others. It could also be said that Adrienne was raised with cultural values that committed her to serving others and all life in her work. As such, Cueyo and Adrienne had been working toward bringing quality, expertise, and advanced sustainable practices into their professions for many years. And yet, this project really was set in motion when they worked alongside Indigenous architect Douglas Cardinal in Eastern Canada, developing a prototype of their first mass timber home- a long time vision of Cardinal's to develop a real housing solution for the north. Adrienne assisted with the design and project management and Cueyo helped build this first home in Elsipogtog First Nation.

Upon completing this project, Cueyo and Adrienne realized that this was not only a solution for the North and indigenous communities, but that everyone deserves and would deeply benefit from housing done in this way. In fact, they knew that such an immense improvement of housing could change everything for everyone. Upon returning to Oregon in 2020, they launched CedarStone with a vision to bring mass timber to single family residential and beyond.

TESTIMONIALS

The CLT homes that CedarStone is designing are beautiful and pushing the boundaries for modern construction methods. As an HVAC contractor, the amount of thought and detail Adrienne and Cueyo are putting into these homes to have them be sustainable, beautiful. welcoming, and efficient is inspiring. We need more of these projects out in the world! Thank You Adrienne and Cueyo (and Dante!).

BILL JEROME, CLIMATIZE

Transparent and open about cost. Personable, professional, knowledgeable and kind. Exactly what I needed to start my first project.

ERIC RICHERS

CedarStone is a new-generation construction firm solution to today's problems with innovative approaches to homeownership by incorporating radical concepts like "sustainability", "energy efficiency", and "affordability", by utilizing ecological building materials constructed with modern methods, changing the traditional paradigm of yesterday's construction techniques from the roof to the foundation!

JOHN R COGAR

On a personal level, Adrienne has the right approach to difficult and challenging project inputs, such as community consultation, including one-on-one interviews. She has conducted herself with professionalism, compassion and empathy, and seeks to achieve consensus through a deliberate approach to consultations with First Nation communities and members. She was a pleasure to work with and I would recommend her for similar projects on First Nation communities.

VERNA GEORGE, FIRST NATIONS MANAGER/CEO

We were thrilled with the new ADU in our backyard designed by Adriennen Fainman and built by Cueyo and Frank Cataldo. It was a tricky assignment to design something for a small area that mirrored the aethestics of our current home but they rose to the occasion. The building fits in perfectly with the neighborhood as well as meeting the needs of our family. They even designed built-in secret door bookcases and dual entrances for privacy or for use as an AirB&B. From start to finish, they kept us informed and worked through every glitch we presented them with grace. I cannot recommend them highly enough. See for yourself!

JEFF AND SUSAN GUSINOW

It was so refreshing to have a reliable and responsive team to build for us. They came in on budget and were really just a pleasure to work with. Cueyo's craftsmanship is truly an art. Thank you.

RACHEL AND AARON LYNN

Adrienne and Cueyo take a very thoughtful approach to design and construction that is evident in their work, from the artisan woodwork to the material sourcing, to the client collaboration. They are an asset to the Pacific Northwest community.

CINDY TRIVISONNO

Cedar Stone Design & Build has been a wonderful company to work with! Even though my project was on the small side, the dedication and energy they gave towards it, made it feel as big and special as it truly was to me. I appreciate that they have been easy to communicate with the entire time, and I look forward to working with them in the future!
